 Developing Mental Toughness

banner 20

Research shows us that those who have elevated levels of mental toughness are more likely to thrive in the face of difficult circumstances, and perform at higher levels than those who don’t possess this attribute. In a world which is driven by ever changing global economic conditions, never has the need for enhanced personal resilience been more required. Whilst some individuals possess this quality naturally, for others they need to learn how to develop it. Over the past 10 years we have worked with the best performers in the world and as a result we have not only gained an explicit understanding of what mental toughness is, but how to go about developing it, and thus creating sustained levels of success.

Developing the High Performance Team

How do you build a team that is united, working towards one goal, and reacts in a positive way to change? In the Olympic environment, this challenge takes place every minute of every day and we have the tools to enable you to build and create your own sustained levels of high performance. The best teams have a clear awareness of self and others, and they develop a glue which holds them together through the most testing of times. Individuals will support and challenge one another, all because they are united on a mission to achieve the goal they set out to achieve. Our approach will show you ‘the how’ of creating a high performance team and will give you the opportunity to develop some practical tools which you can implement into your team context.

Developing Inspirational Leaders

Never has the need for high performance leadership been more required. Change within the workplace has become the norm, and as a result, individuals look to their leader for support and guidance. High performance leaders see the invisible and have a clear picture in their mind of where they want to get to. It is their job to communicate this picture rationally and emotionally so that their team make a conscious decision to go on the journey with them or to disengage. Our knowledge of high performance environments enables us to develop leaders who can inspire through gaining an understanding of who they really are as individuals.

Developing Coaching Cultures

go gb

Traditionally, leaders are seen as the people with all of the answers. Not only is this an unrealistic expectation and burden on the person at the top of the tree, it does little to promote empowerment, and increase the problem solving ability and confidence of the team members. Our approach is based on creating a culture whereby the coachee comes up with the solution. On one level, the reliance on the leader is reduced. On a second level, the team feel more motivated to take action as decisions have not been imposed, rather it is they that have provided the solution.

Understanding motivation and behaviour in high performance teams

This is an extremely popular day which many schools have now integrated into their thinking. Understanding what it is that motivates a team and how our behaviour is affected by the environment and the relationships around us is vital to creating high performance. In addition to this, it is important to understand what  happens to ourselves and our team under pressure. We spend a great deal of our time under pressure and the awareness generated through this day provides you with practical solutions for dealing with pressure as a team both individually and in the relationships we have. During this day we will give you an understanding of how our character strengths can be used to facilitate performance but also the dangers of what happens when they are overused.

Managing Difficult People

This course has been specifically designed as on nearly every course we have run, someone has asked the question, 'how can I get this difficult person on board with my team'? Managing Difficult People has five basic premises that the course is built around:

1.    There is no such thing as a difficult person. However, there are difficult behaviours, situations and relationships
2.    You demonstrate difficult behaviours to someone
3.    We do not see the world not as it is, we see it as we are
4.    The ultimate way to get the best out of someone is to value them for what they want to be valued for
5.    Treating people equally is not necessarily treating them fairly

Performance Coaching

team2

This coaching course is specifically targeted at people who already have a firm understanding of the coaching process but want to know how to coach for performance. This course is based on understanding 3 concepts:

1.    What is it that you want this person to achieve and what factors are getting in the way of them achieving that
2.    Who is it that you are coaching?
3.    How do you need to structure your TGROW conversation based on 'what' it is you want them to do and 'who' it is that you are coaching?
